The kidneys are a pair of organs each about the size of a fist. They are found inside your belly, one toward each side. The kidneys are like filters. They remove waste and extra water from your blood. This waste and water make up urine. Urine passes from each kidney to the bladder through a tube called the ureter. Urine then leaves the bladder through a tube called the urethra.
The kidneys also help your body make red blood cells and keep your blood pressure stable.
